Raising Happier Pets
Your pets happiness is the first thing that comes to mind when you are raising a puppy, or adopted pet. The happier they are, the happier you are and vice versa.
Give them a Friend: We all know that if you could, you would spend every second with you and your pet, always by their side loving them to death. But sadly, work, social gatherings and trips into town require that you and your pet go separate ways, but only for a short while.
Therefore, it's heavily advised for the happiness of pets everywhere, that they have a companion that they can spend time with when you are otherwise unable. This is why avid pet lovers always have two of the same pet, because we all need that extra bit of company from time to time. It has been proven that a pet with a companion is far happier than those that are left on their own, which leads to longer, and you guessed it, happier lives.
Frisbee, Fetch and the Beach oh my: Ensuring that your pet gets a large variety of exercise and is taught several tricks to tucker them out, during the late hours of the night when you and they are fast asleep, is yet another fantastic way of keeping your young companion happy. Puppies in particular, are chalk full of energy, and are always curious to learn something new.
The more tricks, games and areas you take/ teach them the better it is for their motivation, confidence and happiness. Dog parks, for example are perfect places to take your dog to ensure that they interact with more than just the family at home. All pets are very social creatures, therefore the more social they are, the happier they become.
Lots of Space: We all know that not everyday is an outdoor play day, therefore it's best to dedicate a lot of space for running around at home. Dogs in particular love lots of space to roam around and be free. Small and confined spaces for any animal, can lead to depressed moods and lower their overall happiness. Therefore, a common rule of thumb is the bigger the animal, and the more you have the more space you should dedicate to their at home adventures. Weather it be a play pen constructed out of Grids, to an entire acre of orchard to explore, the more space you can dedicate to them the happier they will be.
